Entrance Requirements

We ask that all candidates receive the ten-session series of Structural Integration as a pre-requisite to training.

Find a practitioner in your area.

Even if you have a strong grounding in human anatomy and a high level of practical experience in bodywork, we strongly recommend you begin your training with the Anatomy, Physiology and Bodywork course (APB). It is designed to give you a comprehensive understanding of human fascial anatomy and bodywork. Thereafter you can move straight on to the Theory and Embodiment of Structural Integration course.

If your knowledge of anatomy is limited and you have no previous experience in bodywork, the ISSI Preparatory Training Courses followed by a period of practical application of the techniques will ensure that you are at a level of competence to begin the Theory and Embodiment of Structural Integration. On completion of the APB course, we ask that you practice the integrative massage and other forms of bodywork learnt during this initial phase of training. On completion of a minimum of 30 hours practice*, you may then go on to the next phase of training.

Practice*: we ask that you log details of your client interactions and bodywork done. Also include the contact details of your clients. During this phase we will keep in touch to see how you are getting on and to get feedback from your clients. Once you have completed your practice period, send your written records to ISSI one month prior to the beginning of the next training phase.

Psychological and emotional maturity is paramount to working with people in a client/therapist situation; the practitioner must provide a safe and healthy environment. You must be able to demonstrate personal integrity, a real interest in the welfare of others and have a welcoming disposition.

Self knowledge is the most important characteristic that a practitioner must bring to this work. There are several paths through which you can develop these traits, for example meditation, attending seminars and workshops in psychological awareness or psychotherapy. The ability to establish and meet long-term goals is also an indication of maturity required to be successful.

Each applicant will be evaluated for acceptance onto the training course on an individual basis.

Structural Integration training requires a commitment of body, mind, and spirit; therefore, preparation is required to begin this journey. Please use the check-list below to ensure that you are ready to send your application to us:

A. Basic Ten Sessions (with a letter of recommendation from your practitioner)
